AREAS AT RISK IN SQUAMISH

Many areas in Squamish are vulnerable to flooding; Brackendale, Garibaldi Estates, the Industrial park, Dentville, and even downtown. Only Valleycliffe and the Garibaldi highlands would be safe from the reaches of a major flood, so it is advised to evacuate to one of those places. Most of the highway would be flooded, as well as almost all of the low-lying roads. Although most of Brackendale would be flooded, there would be no predictable water in the areas like Ross road and eastern Depot road, so a safe haven could be found there. Dentville and the North Yards are the farthest away from the evacuation zones, so it would be advised to not attempt to evacuate on the roads. The primary exception to this is when the flood is much farther upstream, in which case you should leave for Valleycliffe.
